Ice Water Shock Testing
In cold weather, icy water from road surfaces may splash onto products, or products may be directly immersed in icy water, causing structural damage (such as cracking or fracture due to sudden thermal shock) or functional failure (e.g., circuit board failure or short circuits due to water ingress). Ice water shock testing simulates the endurance of various automotive electronic, electrical, and appliance components when subjected to sudden cold or heat.
This test is primarily used to simulate the thermal shock caused by ice water splashing on components in splash zones when a vehicle is driven on wet roads in winter. It assesses the resistance of various electronic, electrical, appliance, plastic, and other raw materials and devices to cold, heat, ice water splash, and ice water immersion.
